THE Hatherleigh 6's Primary School cricket competition sponsored by Active Villages had record entrance this year with 10 teams from around the area.

With so much good cricket coaching at clubs like Hatherleigh, Belstone, Lewdown and Chagford it was no surprise that the standard was much improved.

The rain was however un relenting and despite a very positive attitude by players and officials it was decided that a bowl off between a super Lewtrenchard team and Chagford was the only way to move the event forward. This was won by Chagford who played North Tawton in the final.

Despite the persistent rain both teams performed magnificently — with some outstanding bowling, strokeplay batting and heroic fielding, which saw North Tawton triumphant.

The event was organised by Richard Tidball and the coaches at Hatherleigh Cricket Club.
