THE launch of 'It's Women's Work' — a project designed to help women get back into work — will be taking place at The Ockment Centre in Okehampton on Monday (May 11) .

The project is run by independent charity the Community Council of Devon, with funding from the Learning and Skills Council, and support from JobCentre Plus.

The launch day will give women in and around the Okehampton area the opportunity to hear about the range of support services that are available to help them either get back into employment or to start up their own business.

Women will be able to hear about the latest developments in IT followed by the offer of a free IT skills audit to find out where their computer skills might need updating.

There will also be a taster workshop designed to boost confidence and self-belief and one offering a series of techniques for creating the perfect personal image to impress would-be employers or business clients.

Women attending will also be able to sign up on the day for a range of free workshops, running until schools break up in July. These will cover such topics as job-search techniques, business start-up know-how and IT skills, along with sessions aimed at boosting confidence and self-presentation skills.

The day will run from 9.30am until 3.15pm and refreshments and lunch are provided There is also help available with childcare and travel costs.
