MOST of us would count ourselves lucky to be a founding member of one highly influential band in our lifetime but Mick Ralphs has doubled that!
He is the founder of two of the UK’s most loved and respected bands, Mott The Hoople and Bad Company.
When Morrissey is writing your liner notes and The Clash’s Mick Jones is copying both your guitar style and the guitars you play, then you know you’ve done a good job!
After a career featuring stadium tours, platinum-selling songwriting and a huge and a devoted fan-base, Mick has formed a band just for the pure fun and enjoyment of getting on the tour bus and hitting the stage and playing guitar.
For the last three years he has been joined by Dickie Baldwin on bass and vocals, Adam Perry on drums and Jim Maving on guitar and vocals, touring the UK and Europe.
This line-up has now been augmented by the brilliant vocals of Adam Barron. Adam, who at the tender age of 29, has the sound of rock, soul and blues ingrained in his psyche, was a sensation on 2013’s BBC TV’s The Voice, mentored by the legend that is Sir Tom Jones and the wonderful Jessie J. His vocal hero is none other than Bad Company’s Paul Rodgers and in Adam’s own words joining the Mick Ralphs Blues Band is ‘a dream come true’.
If the last time you saw Mick Ralphs was on a distant stadium stage, this is your chance to get close to the man and his music at The Wharf, Tavistock on Friday, April 15. For Mick, it’s a labour of love and the joy is relentlessly infectious. The band performs a mixture of classic blues, original band written material and of course, a few songs from Mick’s back catalogue. Expect a few surprises along the way and come prepared for a great evening.
