SLIMMERS in Okehampton have received inspiration and motivation to achieve their goals, following a national awards ceremony.
Consultant Vickie Mills, who runs Okehampton's Slimming World group, attended the national awards ceremony in November, which celebrates the best slimmers in the country.
While no members of the Okehampton group made it to the national finals this year, Vickie said the awards served to inspire the group's members.
'The awards celebrate all of our members, not just those who make it through to the finals.
'In Okehampton, we see our members doing absolutely amazing things every week, but it's great for local members to hear about national stories.
'Our members often see that someone who may have started at the same weight as them has managed to reach the finals, and that really motivates them and makes them believe they can achieve their goals.'
The awards were hosted by comedian Justin Lee Collins, who has himself faced the challenges of slimming.
Vickie said: 'JLC was the funniest host we've ever had, and he was so genuine too. He cuddled each and every person and made everyone feel as though they were the most amazing people ever.'
The group meets at Fairplace Church in Okehampton every Tuesday 5pm and 7pm and Wednesday at 10am.
