Buckley Cup
Belstone v Tedburn St Mary
TEDBURN St Mary were the visitors to Rew Meadow for Belstone's latest Twenty20 Buckley Cup match — the first time that the two teams had met since 2008.
They got off to a fine start with James Walker and Williams both retiring on 28 having hit 11 fours and a six between them as the score reached 67 for one after 12 overs. A tidy spell from David Binns (4-1-5-0) then pegged them back and, although they kept plenty of wickets in hand, the scoring rate never recovered so that the last eight overs only brought another 35 runs to leave Tedburn on 102 for three at the end of their 20 overs.
Belstone's reply was always up with the required five-an-over rate thanks to openers Richard Drake (25 retired) and Scott Tremain (22).
Fourteen came from the 13th over to put the home team firmly in control and with Phil Woods (25 retired) and Chris Walpole (13 not out) going well they reached their target with 19 balls to spare.
