THE children's playground at South Zeal will be receiving a boost thanks to the monies collected from the Zale Fayre.
The annual fayre, held earlier this month was a great success.
On Friday, July 4 the third South Zeal Summer Ball was held in a marquee on the Recreation Ground — 300 people enjoyed a four-course meal and danced the night away to local band Fireblockers.
Throughout the weekend there was also a beer festival with Zale Fayre on the Saturday and jazz music on the Sunday.
The weather was appalling but so many people turned out and had a brilliant time in the huge marquee.
This year money raised is going towards new play equipment in the children's playground for which in excess of £50,000 needs to be raised.
A cheque for £5,000 — this year's ball profit — was presented by the summer ball committee to the South Zeal Recreation Ground Committee.
