A BRAVE Okehampton women had all her hair shaved off to help raise money for a charity close to her heart.

Karen Hendry has so far raised £1,400 for Cancer Research UK.

The shave or not shave event took place in the Taw River Inn, Sticklepath last Wednesday.

Karen said: 'When I first walked in the door the bidding war was at £75 not to shave. It was the landlord Peter Jones whose £3 to shave, tipped it in favour of shaving.

'I am just really pleased that I have made so much money and I want to thank everyone who has supported me with this.

'It means so much to me and everyone who got involved has been brilliant.

'It feels very weird not to have any hair, especially after having so much of it in the first place.

'I feel the cold so much more but it has all been worth it in support of all the people, including my good friend, Lizzie, who has had cancer.

'The money raised is still rising and I can't thank people enough.'
