SOPHIE Martin of Quinns Hairdressing in Okehampton has received her ’hairdressing apprentice of the year award’ at the Exeter College annual apprentice awards 2017 at Sandy Park.
Last year, Sophie was also given the title of Exeter College student of the year, an award that included all full time students as well as day release ones.
Sophie and her mum, Alison Martin, of Bratton Clovelly, along with employer Dawn Pitts, were invited to the ceremony on February 28 where Sophie was awarded with a certificate and a gift voucher.
Sophie has worked full time at Quinns throughout her training and is currently studying for NVQ level 3. She is now a graduate stylist and runs a full column of clients every day. She enjoys all aspects of hairdressing and it building a very good clientele.
Exeter College’s apprentice programme stands out as one of the best in country having been awarded the inaugural Times’ educational supplement’s further education award for best apprenticeship programme of the year.
This past year Exeter College has also been named as the top college in the South West for apprenticeship provision. The college supports more than 850 businesses.
