CURRENT town mayor Cllr the Rev Mike Davies has been chosen by the town council to stay in the position for another year.

His current deputy mayor Cllr Paul Vachon will also retain his position. The decision was made by the council at their meeting on April 22.

The chair and vice-chairs of the policy and resources, parks, planning and property committees were also chosen.

Cllr Christine Marsh was voted chair of the parks committee with Cllr Dr Michael Ireland as vice-chair. Cllr Tony Leech will continue to chair the planning committee, with Cllr Jan Goffey acting as vice-chair.

Cllr Maureen McDonald will retain her position as chair of the policy and resources committee, with Cllr Terry Cummings as vice-chair. Cllr Jan Goffey will become chair of the property committee, with Cllr Tony Leech as vice chair.

The civic ceremony of mayor choosing will take place on Wednesday May 15, where Cllr Davies will again receive the chain of office.
