CRAFTSMEN and women from all over the South West will be exhibiting their creative talents at a special fair to be staged in Chagford.
The two day event, called Wonderworks, will be held in Jubilee Hall on Saturday, November 22, and Sunday, November 23, between 10am and 5pm.
Co-organiser Virginia Richards told the Times: 'Wonderworks is not just another craft fair.
'It grew out of a desire by a group of local makers to provide a platform not only to show their work to the public and make it available for sale, but essentially to guarantee a high quality of workmanship across a wide variety of craft.'
Now in its sixth year, Wonderworks 2008 brings together 23 exhibitors from all over the South West, offering ceramics, jewellery, textiles, metal and woodwork, baskets, bookbinding, furniture and quilts.
Exhibitors from the Okehampton area include willow basket maker Linda Lemieux, potters Virginia Richards, Tessa Rubbra and Nicky Scott and children's clothes from Angharad Barlow, who makes her clothes mainly from recycled materials.
Jenny Hutchison offers colourful quilts, Kate Halliday has bags, cushions and appliquéd wall hangings, Yuli Somme will attend with her felt work and Ann Powell with her jewellery.
Exhibitors will also be donating a piece of their work as a prize in a draw — the proceeds going to FORCE Cancer Support Centre in Exeter which provides an invaluable service to cancer sufferers and their carers.
