THREE fire appliances from Hatherleigh, Okehampton and North Tawton were called to a report of a fire in an industrial unit last Wednesday, January 12.

The fire — in a building on Hatchmoor Industrial Estate at Hatherleigh — involved pallets in an industrial paint finish oven. Small tools, one hose reel and thermal imaging equipment were used.

l POLICE and fire crews were called to Dipper Mill Farm at Shebbear after reports of a car in water at just before 7am on Thursday, January 13.

Fire appliances from Holsworthy and Hatherleigh attended the scene.

A spokeswoman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: 'By the time crews arrived, the occupant of the car had reached safety. However, two crew members wearing drysuits entered the water to push the car to safety.'
