THE latest donation from Waitrose's Community Matters scheme will help give blind people their independence.
The Okehampton store's green token scheme has raised £582 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Last Thursday, puppy walker Ian Wonnacott from Bridestowe and 12-week-old labrador puppy Gracie came into the store to say thank you.
Ian said: 'The charity gives people with limited eyesight the chance to have independence, companionship, and freedom. This is what guide dogs give people — they give them a normal life, effectively.
'Any money we receive is gratefully received, as the charity needs £14-million each year to operate. So thank you to Waitrose and everyone who put their green token in for the Guide Dogs for the Blind.'
