DEVON and Cornwall Police are now recruiting for special constables.
The role sees residents volunteer their time to support the work of the local police force ‘in the neighbourhood that matters most to you’.
The Special Constabulary is a force of trained volunteers who work alongside, and support, their local police. They have the same powers as regular officers and spend a minimum of 16 hours per month, or more, helping the regular constabulary to tackle crime in their communities.
West Devon inspector Mark Sloman said: ’Special constables are an asset to the community they serve and are highly valued by the police force. If you feel like you want to do something special and make a difference to your community then I encourage everyone to apply.’
