I have cooked thousands of scones for 'Devon cream teas'.

The scone originated from Tavistock.

It was introduced by the Duchess of Bedford for her servants' teas. Always Devonshire clotted cream first, and preferably strawberry jam on the top.

As a child my family always made their own Devonshire clotted cream and strawberry jam.

Definitely not Cornish cream!
