Hatherleigh Walruses are extending an invitation to any brave souls who wish to join them on their annual New Year's Day Dip.
Each year the group take a dip in the freezing water of the River Lew on January 1 to raise money for a range of charities. They currently have 24 brave volunteers, but would like a few more.
This year the event's theme will be 'The Smurfs at the Rugby World Cup.' Swimmers will be decked out in costume as they get into the river near Hatherleigh Community Centre.
Spectators can view the brave swimmers from the bridge over the river.
The 2011 dip raised £2,100, which organisers divided between Hatherleigh Primary School and the town's skate park. In the last 24 years, the event has raised more than £50,000 for charity.
The team are looking to recruit as many new swimmers and helpers as possible to raise as much money as possible.
If you don't fancy the chilly swim, organisers are keen to find volunteers to shake collection pots on the river bank.
All swimmers must be 18 or over. If you wish to take part, please call Richard Tidball on 01837 810010 for details.
