WEST Devon residents are being asked to 'paws' for thought in a new scheme hoping to highlight the plight of forgotten felines.

Hatherleigh, Okehampton and District branch of the Cats' Protection League is pleased to announce that Mole Avon Town and Country Store on Exeter Road, Okehampton has agreed to take a collecting box for unwanted cat food.

Pat Sawyer, branch co-ordinator for the league said: 'Most cat owners have unwanted and unopened cat food at home that they don't know what to do with.

'By placing it in our Red Bin at Mole Avon we can use it to feed the unwanted cats and kittens that come into our care before they are rehomed.

'This also helps us keep our resources for other items such as veterinary care. We would like to thank store manager Maria and everyone at Mole Avon for their continued support.'

The red food bin where unwanted or unused cat food can be left is located just inside the main doors at Mole Avon. Anyone who has unwanted or unused cat food is urged to support the scheme.
