A SPECIAL community day at Parklands Leisure Centre will combine activities and entertainment with advice and support on everyday issues.

The free fun day takes place tomorrow (Friday) at the centre from 11am to 3pm and has been organised by Tor Homes, part of the Devon and Cornwall Housing group.

Children can enjoy a petting zoo, face-painting, a bouncy castle, crafts, and balloon moulding.

Staff from Tor Homes will be on hand to give advice on housing issues and will also provide information for those thinking of applying for social housing or shared-ownership schemes.

Partner agencies will offer top tips on healthy living, crime prevention, employment and training, recycling, energy-saving, financial and benefit advice, charity volunteering and animal care.

Charities and local agencies will be holding competitions, and refreshments will be available.

Alice Potter, resident engagement manager for Tor Homes, said: 'This is an opportunity for our residents to have a say about their homes and for the wider community to receive advice and support on a range of issues. The event is open to everyone and is a great way to enhance community spirit in the area.'
