OKEHAMPTON and District Cats Protection is running a free neutering scheme throughout the month of October in an effort to reduce the number of future strays. Over the last 18 months, the organisation has run a number of free neutering campaigns in an effort to curb additional future strain on their already stretched resources. Demand for places in the branch's cat sanctuary is already very high, with increases in the number of cats needing rehoming having steadily risen over the past few years. The neutering service is free for those living in the EX20 postcode area. The group is also holding a coffee morning on Saturday, September 27 in All Saints Church Hall to promote their work from 9.30am to noon. There will be plenty of stalls including Cats Protection Christmas cards and diaries, and a raffle and refreshments. Entry is free though donations of cat food would be welcome. To adopt a cat or kitten visit the website okehampton.cats.org.uk or call 0845 371 2751. For further details on how to get neutering vouchers call Pat on 01837 55409. Feel free to leave your name and number on the voicemail facility and someone will return your call as soon as possible.
