OKEHAMPTON Community Recreation Association (OCRA) are starting a busy summer holiday scheme this week.
They have an exciting programme throughout August for children and young people this summer.
Stuart Lord, OCRA'S activities manaager, said: 'Our popular sport and art days are running on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We have sport specific camps for the children and young people to try including tennis, athletics, basketball, cricket, gym and trampolining.
For those children who love horses we offer two horse riding experiences — ride for an hour across beautiful Dartmoor or a new activity for this summer is to 'Own a Pony For A Day' where you will learn to care for your pony, stable management, grooming, feeding and including a two hour ride.
'If being in the water is something you enjoy then our water activity day is the one for you — you will learn the techniques of raft building, open canoeing and kayaking in a lovely local setting. No experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. Bushcraft for the budding Ray Mears offers the opportunity to make your own five minute fire, camp fire cooking, trail laying and much more.
OCRA is offering free two hour free play sport and art sessions in three local villages this summer funded by the Big Lottery at Hatherleigh, Belstone and Lewdown Cricket Club. For details visit the OCRA website at http://www.ocrasport.org.uk">www.ocrasport.org.uk
