Devon and Exeter senior three
South Zeal Utd 5
Seaton Town 1
ZEAL produced a good performance in beating Seaton Town at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.
Apart from a 10 minute spell in each half Zeal had most of the game and took the lead after 25 minutes. Redd Cann showed great control as he put his brother Harley away down the left wing, Harley beat two defenders before scoring with a low shot that beat the visitors' keeper at the near post.
Darren Gilbert was always dangerous and set up the second when Robbie Sendacock put him through and his pin point cross was hit home by Redd Cann to put Zeal two up.
Zeal went three up when Harley Cann robbed a defender and side footed into an empty net.
The visitors hit back 10 minutes later when a cross was not fully cleared and after goal line stops from Garry Smith and Tim Sanderson the ball fell for an easy finish from a Seaton forward.
Seaton then had a good 10 minute spell but Zeal went 4-1 up when Dan Wakeham was put through by Scott Hooper and scored from close range with a left foot shot.
Eventually Darren Gilbert got the goal he deserved when Jamie Atherton put him through, Darren drew the keeper and slid the ball home for an emphatic 5-1 win for the home side.
• Next week South Zeal are away to Tipton St John, kick-off 3 pm.
