HATHERLEIGH Co-operative store has donated more than £5,000 to three beneficiaries in the town.

With the help from Co-op customers, the store has provided funding for Hatherleigh Community Centre, Hatherleigh Primary School and Hatherleigh Pre-School.

The funding has been provided by the Co-op’s new membership scheme offering 1% off all purchases of Co-op products that then goes to three local charities.

The finalised total was £5,272, which has been split between the three groups and was presented to them recently.

Sharon Ashworth, representative of Hatherleigh Co-op, said: ‘In total we awarded £5,272 to the chosen charitable projects.

Hatherleigh Primary was given £1,800, the community centre was given £1,747 and the pre-school was awarded £1,725.’
