HATHERLEIGH won the Exmouth Ladies Cricket Tournament on Saturday, having beat Plymouth, Bovey Tracey and Exmouth to get to the final.

The team's success was due to some excellent batting from Clara Nielson, Frances Lausen and Catherine Williams, and all the bowlers chipping in to keep the opposition's score down.

In the final Axminster batted first and only scored 61 off 8 overs. All Hatherleigh's bowlers bowled tightly with Leanne Drew bowling particularly well. Frances Lausen led Hatherleigh's reply and the cup was won with an over to spare.

Hatherleigh Ladies finished fourth in their first season in Devon League Division one. The side was led by Kirsty Tidball and the season's highlights were the consistent batting form of Catherine Williams and two match turning performances from Gemma Anstey with the bat against Torquay and Anna Cherrington with the ball against Whitchurch.
