A BUBBLY Okehampton youngster, Joseph Lynch, who has Down's syndrome, has become the proud owner of a brand new trike designed to assist with stability and balance.

The trike was funded in equal parts by the Mary Budding Trust and the Okehampton Educational Foundation.

Joseph can now concentrate on steering, pedalling, braking and the anticipation of danger without having to think about balance at the same time.

He is delighted with his new independence and has been out several times with his family on the Granite Way.

From an initial 2 mile return journey he has now completed a 14 mile trip. No doubt the promise of lunch half-way was a great incentive!
