OKEHAMPTON Medical Centre is to hold a series of flu vaccination clinics over the coming weeks, including an event for children.

Patients over the age of 65 and children aged two to four are all eligible for a free flu vaccination on the NHS. The medical centre also advises flu vaccinations for patients under 65 who have chronic illness such as heart failure, diabetes, respiratory problems or are immuno-suppressed.

The flu clinics will be held at the medical centre from 8.30am to noon this Saturday (September 24), October 1, October 8 and October 15.

The centre is also holding a series of drop-in village hall flu clinics which require no appointment. The clinics will take place between 2pm and 4pm on the following dates: Wednesday, September 28, Sourton Village Hall; October 6, Exbourne Village Hall; October 12, Belstone Village Hall; October 25, South Zeal Victory Hall.

On Saturday, October 15 the centre will be holding a clinic for children from 8.30am to noon as part of a family fun day to encourage vaccine uptake.

There will be various activities to keep children entertained as well as alpacas, refreshments, cakes and a toy and book stall. Children aged two to four or between six months and 17 years old with a chronic condition are entitled to a free flu jab.
