PLANS for a new housing development with a school and supermarket in Okehampton go on show to the public this week.

The plans include 60 new homes, a new primary school, a supermarket and land for leisure and tourism, which is being considered for a luxury camp site. Also included in the scheme is a coach park and a shuttle bus and park and ride service.

The plans, from the Hunt Group, will be on display at the White Hart Hotel,?Okehampton, on Friday, June 21 from noon to 8pm, and Saturday, June 22 from 10am to 2pm.

Paul Hunt from the Hunt Group, said: 'We are really excited about our plans for this site. We have spoken to the community before and that has informed some of the decisions we have made.

'We know that Okehampton, like everywhere else at the moment, faces many challenges.

'We really believe that our proposals can help provide some solutions and really help Okehamptom thrive.

'The coach park and the park and ride and shuttle bus facility along with the camping ground will help to get more tourists back into Okehampton.

'More importantly it will get those visitors back into the independent shops in the town centre and won't add to the congestion issues the town faces.'
