CONCERNS over where the West Devon Citizens' Advice Bureau will go during the temporary closure of the Ockment Centre have now been quashed.
CAB moved into their temporary location at Okehampton's Inspiration Church last Tuesday — with a sigh of relief from the bureau's manager, Barbara Osborne.
Barbara was quickly running out of options for the re-siting of the bureau in Okehampton when she was offered the temporary option of the church.
She had even began to consider moving all personnel, files and computers to the Tavistock office.
She said: 'Tavistock was really our last option as we did not want to disenfranchise our clients in Okehampton.
'It can sometimes take a lot of courage to ask for help with a problem and if that involves an additional 17-mile bus ride, people are more likely to struggle alone.'
One of the CAB advisers suggested contacting Pastor Mike Davies of the Inspiration Centre, which is situated at the top of Northfield Road, numbers 101-103.
'Not only did Mike agree with the importance of keeping our services in the town, he positively welcomed us in,' said Mrs Osborne.
The bureau opened at its new location last Tuesday. The advice line telephone number remains the same —01837 52574. Enquiries for home visits and appointments can be made on 01837 52105.
