A WEST Devon sportswoman and transplant patient has been invited to the third Chinese Transplant Games in Beijing next month.
Wendy Sincock, from Spreyton, is one of two transplant patients who will be attending the games between Monday, July 12 to Monday, July 19.
A member of the Exeter and District Transplant team, Mrs Sincock has already won three gold medals and two silver medals at the 2009 British Transplant Games.
Wendy, 50, who had a kidney transplant 12 years ago this October, said: 'I received the email that any Great British transplant patient could attend.
'We only found out last week, so its been a race against the clock!'
Mrs Sincock said she will fly the Union Jack with fellow participant, Jamie Lonsdale, 22, from Oxford.
She will be accompanied by her husband, John Sincock, as well as transplant physician, Paul Harden from Oxford, who looks after kidney pancreas and small bowel transplant patients.
Wendy added: 'Paul rang and told me he had booked flights and the Chinese are paying our administration fees, including three nights hotel expenses.
'It's such a thrill and a special honour.'
Wendy will also be taking part in the British Transplant Games which will be held in Bath in August.
She added: 'I have been swimming in Okehampton pool regularly, trying to get fit for the games.
'So now the pressure is certainly on, as I will be swimming against females 20 years younger.'
Wendy is also organising a cycle ride in aid of National Transplant Week which runs from Friday, July 2 until Saturday, July 10.
Everyone is welcome to come along and join in the fun ride, which will be held this Saturday, July 3 at 10.30am starting from Okehampton Station, and travelling along the Granite Way.
The route will run to Bearslake Inn, with a stop-off at the buffet carriage for refreshments.
Participants are asked to wear something red.
