THE artistic talent of an Exbourne girl has been recognised by her fellow villagers.
Jemma Young, aged 10, took part in a competition asking pupils from Exbourne School to design a logo for use on all the literature and posters for the village's Diamond Jubilee fundraising and celebration events.
Jemma was adjudged the winner and her prize is a family ticket for Okehampton New Carlton Cinema. It will be presented to her by Olly Brereton who organised the competition.
The community of Exbourne has started fundraising for the Diamond Jubilee and the first weekend in June is planned to be one of celebration and entertainmen.
Fundraising events include: Saturday February 11, vinyl disco; Saturday February 18, jumble sale; Saturday March 10, bangers and mash evening to include a Royal-themed quiz; Saturday March 24, WI coffee morning in the village hall.
The next organising meeting is on February 15 at 7.30pm in Exbourne Village Hall. Every villager is welcome to come along to meetings where they can and join in and offer help.
This will be followed by meetings on March 13 and April 10, both in the village hall at 7.30pm.
