IT?may not be a tradition as old as that of blazing barrels, but a Devon samba band are fast becoming part of the 'furniture' at Hatherleigh Carnival.

Energia Samba Band bring up the rear of the evening procession, and at the top of the high street, revellers have taken to 'ambushing' the band and indulging in street dancing to the rhythm of the Brazilian samba drums.

The well-established community band meets on Wednesdays at 7.30pm in Kilkhampton.

They play all over the south west at carnivals, and recruit members from across the area. All are welcome to come along and take part.
