WALKERS are being encouraged to enjoy the beautiful countryside in aid of the annual Leafy Lanes charity walk next month.

Organiser David Hocking is asking local residents and visitors to take park in the walk on Sunday, May 13 in aid of the Pals of Plymouth Oncology, Outpatients and Chemotherapy (POOCH), a charity founded by David.

This will be the tenth event that David has organised — but this year it will start at 11am at the White Hart in Bridestowe instead of the Bearslake Inn at Sourton.

David said: ‘This will be the tenth year and in that time we have raised £30,000 for the charity and POOCH has recently presented a cheque towards four breast boards at Derriford Hospital.

‘I hope people haven’t been put off by the torrential rain that we had last year — this year the weather will hopefully be much better!

‘There will be the usual choice of three or six mile routes around the country lanes and there will be Whitely Cakes at the half way mark.

‘I am looking forward to the event.’

Special guests at the event will be Mark Radmore from Tavistock Young Farmers’ Club and Thomas Perkins from Coryton, who will officially kick start the walk.
