THE Hatherleigh Chess Circuit is on the lookout for more players.

The team play three pubs in the area each Monday between September and May in rotation, including the Royal Exchange in Torrington, the Bickford Arms in Black Torrington and the Duke of York in Iddesleigh.

The teams share a friendly rivalry, with the true aim to enjoy a night of chess, beer and good company.

Team members also help to organise and compete in the annual Hatherleigh Great Outdoor Chess Challenge, which takes place every June in Hatherleigh Square.

The Hatherleigh group play at the Tally Ho! on the first Sunday of every month at 3pm.

In October's meet-up, organisers are hoping to unearth some new talent to help the team take on the other three pubs in the area. Anyone is welcome to turn up on the day and play at the Tally Ho! for fun or join the weekly team.
