BRATTON Clovelly Parish Council has been awarded a grant of nearly £1,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to make improvements to the play area in the centre of the village.
In autumn 2015, Bratton Clovelly Parish Council embarked on an improvement project of its children’s play area which is located alongside the parish hall and playing field in the centre of the village.
The parish council has now been awarded a grant of £9,959 from the Big Lottery Fund following an application for assistance with the project.
A spokesperson for the parish council said: ‘The project aims to provide a more welcoming area for all ages and abilities of children, with a focus on the under five age group.
‘Funding for the purchase of two recycled plastic picnic tables was provided by Cllr Ball, Devon County Council, from the Locality Budget last autumn as a first step towards the project for which further grant funding was being sought.
‘The contractor has been appointed and hopes to be on site within the next few weeks so that the area will be ready in plenty of time for the Easter holidays.’
