CADETS from 2443 (Okehampton) Squadron, Royal Air Force Air Cadets, took part in a shopping bag pack event on Saturday, August 18, kindly hosted by Waitrose in Okehampton.

This event was held to raise funds towards the purchase of a flight simulator for the squadron.

‘With thanks for the kind support of the Waitrose staff, Mrs Vickie Mills for coordinating, Mrs Charlotte Tucker and Mrs Jill Holmes for looking after us on the day and the ladies and gentlemen on the tills, the squadron managed to raise £459.50 as a result of the generous donations from the good people of Okehampton and the surrounding area,’ said Flight Sergeant Dave Wilkinson.

‘When we have acquired the flight simulator it will be used to give the cadets a better understanding of the principles of flight and an introduction to flight controls before they actually participate in a real flight.’
