SIX cadets from 2443 (Okehampton) Squadron ATC have earned their national indoor climbing award at RAF St Mawgan following five weeks of training.
The award is designed to promote climbing development and accredit individual achievement on artificial climbing structures.
It can be used by our cadets as a starting point as they take up climbing and mountaineering as this sport provides physical challenges, problem solving and also working together with others.
This fantastic activity encourages the spirit of adventure which is one of the ATC’s aims.
The cadets and the volunteer staff had an excellent time learning this physically demanding skill and look forward to developing their climbing ability in the coming months.
Commanding Officer of 2443 Okehampton Squadron, Flt. Lt Andrew Oliver is undertaking the climbing wall award along with other staff from the wing.
This will allow more opportunities for cadets to take advantage of the facilities on offer at RAF St Mawgan in the future.
