South Eastern hockey district one
West Dorset 1
Okehampton 5
THINGS couldn't have started any worse for Okehampton after captain Mark Parsons was shown first a green card and then a yellow in the opening two minutes.
Even though the visitors were down to ten players the visitors dominated proceedings, without really looking like scoring.
Back to full strength it did not take long before they took the lead - Parsons firing home to put the away side ahead and looking comfortable.
West Dorset started to fight back after the goal and pushed Okehampton's defence hard, only excellent defensive tackles preventing the home side scoring.
With ten minutes to go in the first half the hosts scramble an equaliser only for Okehampton to rally and score a second after Nick Luxton's strike rebounding off the post straight to Jake Lloyd who calmly slotted home.
Okehampton took to the pitch for the second half and began to completely control the game.
With Okehampton's five man midfield dictating everything it was a matter of time before they increased their lead. Luke Miller found Lloyd who dribbled past the keeper to score. Then a short corner resulted in James Rogers finding Parsons who smashed home to give them a commanding lead.
The away side then won a free hit, Miller's ball into the area was flicked on by Parsons but for the ball to rebound off the post.
Okehampton did have to defend at times, Luxton turning the ball off the line and keeper Andy Harvey making a couple good saves. The fifth and final goal came when the outstanding man of the match Joff Stephens dribbled half the pitch to play in Simon Bourne who tapped the ball home.
This week Okehampton host Exeter Hornets D in the last league game of this year.
