A BRAVE 18-year-old from Okehampton has recently completed a charity head shave to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Chloe Ley was surrounded by loved ones in her family home when she had her locks chopped off for the charity and has so far raised £531.
‘I raised £260 on my actual Macmillan page through physical sponsors and online sponsors and I raised £271 on my just giving webpage,’ said Chloe.
‘My dad has had two forms of cancer a couple of years back, at the time he wasn’t even 40 yet. Also, he hasn’t had the best year this year, so I thought maybe I could do something to show him I cared and something which would raise money for Macmillan — who were absolutely amazing and so supportive whilst dad was having treatment.’
Chloe added: ‘I was insanely nervous about shaving my head as it’s a big deal and I can definitely feel the cold now! But, I feel as if I’ve done something to be proud of and raised well over £500 for an amazing charity.’
The youngster currently works part-time as a waitress while studying public services at Exeter college, she said that she aspired to become a police officer but hoped to attend university first.
She said that she was proud of the money she had raised and hoped to raise more funds to support the charity that has helped her family.
