A BRAVE young girl from Okehampton who decided to chop off her long locks to help children with cancer has raised more than £100 for The Little Princess Trust.

Ellie Hoar, ten, a pupil at Okehampton Primary School, took the plunge at E-Clips salon in West Street where stylist Marcella Alves did the deed, donating her services for free.

Ellie’s hair will now be donated to the charity to make a wig for a child who has lost their hair through cancer treatment.

Ellie’s mum Charlotte said: ‘She came up with the idea of doing this off her own bat. She really wanted to help children with cancer.’

Tanya Carron, apprentice at E-clips, said: ‘She was so brave, she was amazing.’
