Okehampton U15s 19
Tavistock U15s 5
IN this first round plate match Okehampton got off to a strong start countering Tavistock's attack to fight their way up the field with the ball passing through numerous hands for Heard to score under the posts, Ponsford kicked the conversion.
Okehampton defended well with strong tackles made by Nash, Mortimore, Craddock and Baker. The ball was scrappy with a lot of interruptions to play but this did not stop Okehampton scoring again through scrum half, Liversidge.
The forwards were well balanced in the scrum and Tavistock demonstrated good technique with the rolling maul.
In the second half used their rolling maul to score a try. Middleton was man of the match for Okehampton and laid his body on the line taking the ball into contact.
Okehampton kept the pressure on in Tavistock's half with a number of rucks to see Cooper score the final try and Simmons kick the conversion.
n TAVISTOCK RFC U15s are grateful to their new sponsor for kitting them out for the rest of the season.
Dave Fisher of DRF Building Contractors has stepped forward to help the team by funding a full set of kit and jackets for the boys.
Graham Dobie, one of the club's coaches, said: 'As you can imagine in a small club such as Tavistock it is often difficult to secure adequate funds for kit. We are extremely grateful to Dave Fisher for his generosity.'
Last year the team enjoyed its most successful season, playing in the Devon Plate Final, just being pipped by one point by Barnstaple. It did however win the plate at the Newbury 10s national tournament.
