OKEHAMPTON and District Cats Protection is asking people to keep their pets indoors on bonfire night.

The charity is suggesting people keep all pets, including cats, indoors on November 5. They also suggest that owners with cats particularly stressed by the noise of fireworks use Feliway, a soothing spray that calms them down.

Pat Sawyer from Okehampton Cats Protection said: 'Now the nights and mornings are getting darker, please think about putting a flourescent collar on your pet.

'We would also ask anyone who needs to have their cat or kittens re-homed by us that you give us as much notice as possible. This is solely down to the lack of space in our pens and we need to prioritise those that need to come in urgently.'

The charity also asked people to have their cats neutered, and to keep their microchip information up to date, with correct address and contact information.
