POLICE and crime commissioner Tony Hogg will be joined by chief constable Shaun Sawyer in Hatherleigh for a lunchtime public meeting in the town's community centre on Friday, November 7.
It is anticipated that many local residents will make up the audience for the 'Question Time' style event, which will be broadcast live on BBC Radio Devon.
It will be the fifth such 'hot seat live' policing debate, with previous broadcasts in Plymouth, Camborne, Newquay and Torquay in the last year. Although rural issues will top the agenda, audience members can raise any subjects they wish with Mr Hogg or the chief constable.
Twitter followers will also be able to use #hotseatlive to get involved in the debate and contribute to the programme. As usual, the questions will be submitted to BBC producers who will retain editorial independence throughout the broadcast.
'If the previous events are anything to go by, there will be much lively debate,' said PCC Tony Hogg. 'I welcome that, because my role is all about providing a real link between the public and policing. There's no better way to do that than for me and the chief constable to go into the heart of our communities and engage directly with local residents about the issues that really matter to them.'
This is not a ticketed event. Anyone who would like more details or to submit a question, please contact Becki Brodest on 01392 225561.
• This public meeting will start at 12.30pm. Doors will open at 12.15pm.
