POLICE are carrying out enquiries and reassuring local people following a burglary in Sticklepath.

The incident took place during the evening of Wednesday, February 23, at the home of a 75-year old woman.

During the incident the pensioner had her hands bound, but managed to escape to a neighbour's property to get help. It is not yet known if anything was taken during the burglary.

A statement from Devon and Cornwall Police said: 'The lady is currently being cared for and will be spoken to by specially trained officers to obtain further details of the incident.'

The scene has been examined and house to house enquiries have been carried out.

Reassurance patrols are being conducted in the local area, and police say this type of crime is very unusual in the area.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw anybody acting suspiciously or noticed any unusual vehicles in the area on the night in question.
