Local police have seen a noticeable increase in oil thefts, particularly diesel, in light of rapidly rising fuel costs.

Officers are urging local residents to be as vigilant as possible in securing properties and belongings and to ensure oil tanks are secured and difficult to access if possible.

They suggest hiding them with fencing, so they are not easily seen from roads.
