THE people of Okehampton and surrounding areas are being asked to donate any ball gowns, posh frocks or dinner suits, to help support a local event which is raising money for the town's Hospiscare shop.
This year, the shop is holding a special open evening for guests of the Starlight Ball to purchase their gowns.
The proceeds from the ball, which is held in Hatherleigh in September, will go to Hospiscare, who offer help and support for people with terminal illness.
As in previous years, the ball organisers are encouraging guests to raise as much money for charity as possible by wearing outfits purchased from charity shops to the event.
Okehampton shop manager Viv Meaker said they were delighted the ball was supporting them this year.
She said: 'We would like to do as much as possible to support the organisers.
'It would be wonderful if we had lots of lovely outfits for the guests to choose from.'
All donated outfits can be left at the Okehampton Hospiscare shop at 5, The Arcade, or at any of the 15 other Hospiscare shops across the region.
The Hospiscare shop will be open for guests of the ball to browse gowns and suits on Tuesday, July 14 from 7pm.
The fourth Hatherleigh Starlight Ball is taking place on Saturday, September 5 at West Fishleigh Farm from 7pm.
The fun filled evening will offer guests locally sourced food, dancing and live music.
Tickets cost £50 and all proceeds will go to Hospiscare.
