THE table tennis team at Okehampton Primary School just keeps on bouncing back — the under 11s boys' and girls' team continued to outshine other schools in the individual championships last week.
The championships, held at Eggbuckland Community College, saw the girls' team coming in second and third and the boys winning first, second and third.
Daniel Howell, who came first in the boys' under 11s, will now go on to play in the national championships to be held later this year in Doncaster.
The success follows the under 11 boys' team's participation in the Butterfly National Team Championships in Sussex, in which they came fourth.
Headteacher Brian Cunningham said: 'We are just really pleased for the pupils.
'It's an amazing thing for them to be taking part in, and it just goes to show what can be achieved when you really want something.
'The children worked very hard for their place in the individual championships and I would also like to thank the Okehampton Educational Foundation who have provided funding for the table tennis equipment and for the coaches.
'I'd also like to say that a lot of the credit goes to Mike Hugh, who has been coaching the children. He is doing a brilliant job.
'It really is just getting better and better and it is amazing that we have a pupil in the Devon championship at our school.'
