A TEAM of South Tawton Primary School pupils have shown themselves to be top of the class, having won an inter-school quiz competition.

Six teams from primary schools across the area battled it out in the final of the Okehampton Rotary Club's primary school quiz 2013 competition, held at Okehampton College on March 13.

The South Tawton team, made up of Year 6 pupils Ben Bowles, Chelsea West, James Close and Emilia Bazeley, managed to win by eight clear points on the night.

Year 6 teacher Andrew Swainson said: 'The team did brilliantly on the night, answering questions well and working together.

'Everyone at the school is very proud of them, and they should be very proud of themselves.'

The winners were awarded encyclopedias and certificates.
