GET Changed Theatre Company will 'Raise the Roof!' at Castle Drogo with the latest part of their Get Changed Makes History project in September. Inspired by Victorian music hall acts, the Raise the Roof! show uses cabaret, comedy, live music and film to tell the story of Sally Drewe, a Nobel-prize-winning scientist who travels back in time to her forebears' ancient seat to seek the help of the Drewe Family, Edward Lutyens and even Queen Victoria herself to foil the evil machinations of her enemy, the malevolent Hal Axelrod. Raise the Roof! is a unique theatre experience around the castle and its grounds. It has been devised by the members of Get Changed Theatre Company with facilitators from Freelance Productions and support from local volunteers. Founded in 1995 Get Changed works with adults with learning disabilities and mental health problems using role play and performing arts techniques to develop life skills and confidence. It promotes social inclusion and empowers people to realise their full potential. Its work is led by participants and is designed to inspire, entertain and educate. Since March, Get Changed Theatre Company has been working on an ambitious project 'Get Changed Makes History' in collaboration with the National Trust at Castle Drogo. Sound and visual installations on show until the end of the season have been created and there have been six days of cameo theatre events where aspects of Castle Drogo's history have been brought to life. These have included a silent movie, the recreation of an Edwardian picnic and the appearance of the fabled White Stag of Drogo. The culmination of all this activity is Raise the Roof!, which runs from Thursday, September 4 to Sunday, September 7. The show starts at 7pm with doors open at 6.45pm. Tickets are available from http://www.getchanged.com">www.getchanged.com costing adults £8.80, concessions £4.40.
