OKEHAMPTON Bowling Club presented a cheque for £500 to BBC Radio Devon's Matt Woodley for the Devon Air Ambulance at the club's opening day of the season on April 16.

The impressive sum was raised throughout last season by club members, and was presented by club president Brian Vernon. The sun shone down on the opening day, with mayor Michael Morse throwing the silver jack to get the season up and running for the club.

Each member had their first roll of the season, and enjoyed cream teas in the afternoon.
