Plymouth University thirds 1

Okehampton Ladies  seconds 2

THE young Oke team moved the ball around well in midfield but found it hard to penetrate the University defence.

After determined Oke pressure the team were rewarded when Grace Thorp slipped the ball past the Plymouth defenders for centre forward Eve Colton to run onto and hammer past the goalie.

The University team began the second half with renewed vigour intent on getting their names on the scoresheet.

Amanda Sim and Willemijn Rademaker for Okehampton worked well together to prevent the home side attacking down the right wing, with full back Katie Graves tackling strongly to keep their forwards out of the Oke circle.

Despite the visitor's solid defending the University side were awarded a goal after an unfortunate umpiring decision.

Oke's play then stepped up a gear with captain Sophie Whiteley controlling her team from the centre. Her determination and enthusiasm spread to the rest of the team in their quest to score the winning goal.

Okehampton's attack looked particularly dangerous on the right side with Nat Dennis providing quality ball for right wing Grace Thorp, but it was young Tara Davidson who picked up the ball on the home 23m line, dribbled into the circle and hammered the ball towards the goal – it shot between the keeper's legs and sweetly struck the back board for the winning goal.

Player of the match was awarded to Tara Davidson.
