IN the Okehampton Ladies Netball League this week Falcons beat Magpies 69-31.
Magpies scored first and it remained neck and neck for the first five minutes; however, Falcons upped the pace and were soon ahead. By the end of the second quarter Falcons had increased their lead significantly and despite some excellent defending from Magpies, Falcons just could not be caught.
Speedwells 49 FBI 21: FBI were at a disadvantage from the start being without key players. Despite this the first quarter was evenly matched with only two goals separating the teams. Speedwells started to pull away in the second quarter but it became clear that FBI's GK was struggling and needed to go off. With only six players it was always going to be hard for FBI to pull back and with Speedwells shooters on form and the defence working tirelessly the final score saw Speedwells winning the match by 28 goals.
Other scores: Bradford Belles 19 Jesters 34; Jammie Dodgers 37 Jets 35; Falcon Juniors 34 Starbursts 6.
n THE Okehampton Junior Netball League finished with an end of season tournament. The tournament is always fast and furious as teams only have five minutes per match in which to score goals. This year was no different and all the teams played with a high degree of competitiveness and sportsmanship.
This is always a great way to finish the season and once again medals were presented to the winning team both for the tournament and the league.
The league's committee thank all the players, the team managers, supporters and all our sponsors in helping the junior league go from strength to strength and promoting the sport of netball here in Okehampton.
