FIRE crews were called to help rescue a sheep stuck at Meldon Quarry, Okehampton on Sunday afternoon.

One appliance from Okehampton and the specialist rescue team from Camels Head attended the incident at 1.43pm, and found one sheep trapped on the ledge of the open quarry face, approximately eight metres from the top of the quarry.

Crews rescued the sheep using a triple extension ladder and specialist equipment.
